Prof. Alli Pate

Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, a Nigerian physician and politician, is the current Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Nigeria. He also serves as a Professor of the Practice of Public Health Leadership at Harvard University. Previously, he was the Global Director for Health, Nutrition, and Population at the World Bank and led the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children, and Adolescents. A former Minister of State for Health, Dr. Pate was honored as a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2022. He also served as Executive Director of Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency. Since joining the World Bank in 2000, he has led impactful programs addressing HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and healthcare system reforms worldwide. An MD specializing in internal medicine and infectious diseases, he holds a master’s in health system management and an MBA in health sector management, reflecting his dedication to global health leadership.
